SEPTEMBER 23 MORNING UPDATE
We don’t often pray for rain at Eagle Point, however, the skies gifted the area with about 30 minutes of rainfall mid-afternoon, significantly aiding firefighting teams (which included air support, smoke jumpers, and ground crews) in stopping the spread. After burning 60 acres, the #3creeksfire is currently 30% contained and teams are focused on eliminating hotspots and clearing hazards.
Residents have returned to the area and restrictions have been lifted and lodging operations have resumed. We look forward to greeting guests this weekend to enjoy nature and the turning of the aspen trees towards gold. We are grateful to the amazing teams from the National Forest Service, Utah Fire and Beaver Fire District. Not surprisingly, many Eagle Point staff provided a big assist as well.
Next step: enjoy peak foliage around the first week of October, pray for snow…and maybe a little more rain too.
SEPTEMBER 22 MORNING UPDATE
On Monday evening, the #3CreeksFire started near the Three Creeks Reservoir, which is a few miles east and below Eagle Point Resort. Guests and residences have been evacuated.
The fire grew overnight and is burning along the northwest border of the resort boundary below the West Village subdivision. There are significant firefighting resources on the scene, with more on the way including air support which is expected to draw water from the snowmaking pond. Highway 153 to the resort is closed and all lodging operations are suspended until further notice. We are thankful that so far no lives or structures have been lost in the fire and we hope that the path of the fire will stay out of the resort and community areas.
We will post a fire update daily on our Facebook page and EaglePointResort.com webpage while the fire remains active. Any lodging reservations impacted by the situation will be refunded. Any questions can be sent to info@skieaglepoint.com. Please be patient as staff are occupied and many are residents of the area.
